Supreme Win Bowls England National Title
With great pride we are pleased to report that Supreme won the National Mixed Over 60’s Double Rink competition, named ‘The Tony Allcock Trophy’, at the 2011 National championships at Worthing on 28th August. This is the first year of this competition so to be the first holders of this prestigious National title is a special honour particularly as it was presented in person by Tony Allcock, the holder of the most world titles in bowls history.
In all 8 rounds of the competition Supreme dropped only one rink. The closest of all our matches was, appropriately, in the Final in which we beat Mylor Bridge BC of Cornwall by 3 shots, the result being in doubt until the last bowl of the last end.
Grateful thanks are due to our loyal supporters who gave great and noisy encouragement throughout the final stages at Worthing. We specially mention Mick Harris, our Surrey Area 2 Chairman, who gave us his unstinting support over the two days of the Finals at Worthing.

Our team members remained the same throughout the competition and are shown in the picture below.

Friendly Matches
We were blessed with excellent weather in two recent friendly matches.
In July we had another very successful President v Captains Day which raised a valuable funds for a local care home charity. As usual Mike Annand did a magnificient job of extracting extra funds from the players for their various 'transgressions' during the match.
In August we held our annual Men v Ladies match playing 6 rinks of triples. After putting up spirited resistance the Ladies had to concede defeat.

World Bowls Rule Changes for 2011 Season
Two notable rule changes applicable to bowls matches in all countries have been introduced this season as follows :
1) The winner of the previous end will deliver the jack and the first bowl on the next end, with the exception of an extra end when there will be a coin toss with the winner have the choice.
2) The Skip will be responsible for keeping the scorecard in all forms of the game, i.e. pairs, triples, and fours.
